In discussing whether Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had a cat named Muezza, it’s crucial to sift through misconceptions and historical inaccuracies.
First and foremost, let’s set the record straight: there’s no credible historical evidence or authenticated Hadith to support the idea that the Prophet (PBUH) had a specific cat named Muezza. This widely held belief doesn’t have a solid foundation in Islamic tradition.
No, the presence of Muezza as the Holy Prophet’s cat is a misconception.
Cats have a unique place in Islamic tradition, often regarded with affection and respect. While there is no specific mention of the Holy Prophet owning a cat in the Quran, various Hadiths shed light on his interactions with these animals.
One popular story tells of a cat that frequently visited the Prophet’s home, seeking food and companionship. The Prophet, known for his gentleness and kindness, would always welcome the cat and ensure it was well-fed.
A hadith underscores the severity of neglecting an animal’s welfare, recounting the story of a woman who ended up in hell due to her inhumane treatment of a cat. Her treatment included depriving the cat of basic good (Sahih al-Bukhari 3318).
In conclusion, the existence of a cat named Muezza in the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) life may persist, but his teachings and conduct unmistakably reveal his compassionate and nurturing attitude towards animals.
His resolute emphasis on kindness, mercy, and the reverence of all life testifies to the profound affinity he held with the animal realm. It issues a poignant reminder for us all to internalize these values into our lives, recognizing that our association with animals mirrors our own humanity.
In a world that frequently neglects the well-being of animals, the exemplary model set forth by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) endures as a timeless guide for fostering a benevolent and harmonious coexistence with all sentient beings.

I am also a HUGE cat lover and have everything cats. I did not know this. Thank you so much for this information! Also, what if all your pet fish die? Will we then go to hell because of not taking good care of our pet fish?
By good care means, taking care of food, and not mistreating the pet animal. Death is the bitter reality, if the pet dies even after so much care and all, it won’t harm you in any way.
what about dogs is it harm to keep them inside the house???
According to Islam, Keeping Dogs as pets are not allowed.
It is believed that it is not allowed due to its saliva.. but anyway, its your choice since you must respect all animals ans treat them well❤
The Prophet peace be upon him didn’t visit one house because they had a dog. Also he said that angels do not enter a house that had dogs. And in another authentic hadith he said that having a dog at home decreases hasanaat daily
I did not know this, MashaAllah great information!
JazakAllah
thanks for this.
I. Hope someone tells the Hadith about the Prophet” s cat to Kurt Zouma who cruelly abused his cat this week but claims he is a Muslim. As a non-Muslim I respectfully ask you to publicly make a statement condemning this footballer and to remind the general public in England and France that animal welfare is enshrined in Islamic texts.
There are 2 billion muslims in the world (a quarter of the world’s population). Bad people exist from everywhere, they can claim to be religious or have no faith at all, because ultimately humans have free will and do what they want regardless of what is written or what they are told to do. You can’t expect religious organisations to call out every single celeb that does bad things.
Do you tell Christian organisations to condemn the actions of extremely racist organisations like Britain First? Do you tell them to condemn Christian celebs that have said racist things to brown or black people or harmed animals? We are responsible for our own actions. I hope that footballer realises that he never should have had a pet if he cannot look after it and that he needs to repent.
Focus on bettering yourself and those around you and hope that those who have done wrong see the error of their ways. The laws of England and France have protections against animal abuse so if he is given the full weight of the law then, the law will punish him. If he doesn’t feel bad about it then that’s something he will need to answer to God about.
It was really nice. Thanks for the info!
