Middle East business intelligence magazine (MEED) reported on Wednesday that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) is planning to build a “megascraper”, a 2-kilometer-tall tower building, as part of an 18-square-kilometer master-planned area in the north of the capital city Riyadh.

The mega tower project will be more than double the height of DubaiDubai’s Khalifa, which is 828 meters high and currently holds the title of the worldworld’sest building.
In the MEED report, the contractor said that the price of a mega-tall tower in the area depended on the final design of the building, but a 2km-high tower could cost around $5 billion to build.
The MEED source added that a design competition with a $1 million participation fee is being organized by the Public Investment Fund (PIF). About eight companies have been invited to enter the massive structure design competition.
The firms selected included some of the leading names in the world of architecture chosen based on their experience working on mega-tall towers and iconic designs worldwide. The early participants are US-based companies Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), Adrian Smith & Gordon Gill Architecture Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), and Gensler.
If these are the signs of Qiyamah?
Like other phenomena that have been proven to occur after thousands of years previously mentioned by the Prophet Muhammad in hadiths, news regarding Saudi ArabArabia’sn to build 2 kilometers tall building, or twice the height of the Burj Khalifa, which is currently the tallest building in the world, also inevitably becomes one of the characteristics of Qiyamah mentioned by the Prophet PBUH.
It was explained in ash-Shahiihain from Abu Hurairah Radhiyallahu anhu that the Prophet PBUH said to Jibril Alaihissallam when he asked about the time of the Doomsday:
“But I will mention the signs … (then he mentioned, among others:) if the goatherds compete to elevate buildings, then that is among the signs.”
In “other hadith, Hazrat Muhammad SAW said, “
“One of the signs of Qiayamah is when you see bare-footed and poor shepherds competing in constructing tall buildings.”
Sanan Ibn e Majah 63
As explained in riwayah of Imam Ahmad from Ibn’ s Radhiyallahu anhuma, he said:
“O Messenger of Allah, and who are the shepherds, people who do not wear sandals, are hungry and poor?” He “replied, “Arabs.”
The” aim of competing to build buildings also includes making the most magnificent, most beautiful, and most expensive buildings. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi was Sallam specifically mentioned the people who competed were goat herders; this was shown to the Arab community, who in the past lived as herders.
It is genuinely true what our Prophet PBUH said. This situation has materialized and can be witnessed together with the planned mega project, which is planned to reach up to 2 kilometers in height. Hopefully, this situation will be a warning for us immediately repent considering that the signs of the Day of Judgment are starting to appear.
