Saudi Arabia has announced stringent penalties for those caught without valid Hajj permits or involved in Hajj-related fraud, reflecting the kingdom’s commitment to maintaining the sanctity and order of the pilgrimage.
Under the new measures, transporters found to be facilitating unauthorized Hajj pilgrims will face imprisonment for 15 days for each violation. Additionally, they will be fined 10,000 Saudi Riyals for each transported violator, with the fine multiplied according to the number of individuals involved.
To further deter such activities, offenders will be publicly shamed, and expatriate transporters will be deported and banned from re-entering Saudi Arabia for a specified period following the enforcement of their penalty.
Judicial authorities will also confiscate up to three vehicles used for illegal transportation purposes.
The Saudi government has reiterated that Hajj can only be performed with a valid permit. Anyone caught using forged documents will be arrested and prosecuted under relevant laws.
Authorities also clarified that an Umrah visa does not grant authorization for Hajj. Overstaying beyond permitted periods is considered a violation and may result in severe penalties.
These measures are part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety, security, and spiritual integrity of the Hajj season. Pilgrims are urged to verify the validity of their permits and comply with all regulations to avoid legal consequences.
Saudi Arabia continues to prioritize the welfare of pilgrims and the smooth conduct of Hajj through comprehensive legal and operational frameworks.
