Saudi Arabia is preparing to welcome more than 2 million Umrah pilgrims to Makkah during Ramadan 2025, as worshipers from around the world flock to the Grand Mosque to perform Umrah and break their fast in its sacred courtyards.
After completing their rituals in Makkah, many pilgrims will travel to Madinah to visit the Prophet’s Mosque, continuing their spiritual journey.
Government agencies have intensified preparations, implementing advanced crowd management plans to ensure a seamless flow of worshipers in and out of the Grand Mosque.
Experts in Umrah affairs predict a significant increase in pilgrim numbers compared to previous years, driven by favorable weather conditions, enhanced digital services, and school holidays aligning with Ramadan.
The hospitality sector in Makkah is already experiencing high demand, with over 1,100 hotels of varying categories reporting near-full occupancy. Hotels in central areas near the Grand Mosque have reached 90% occupancy, while those in districts like Al-Shisha, Al-Aziziyah, and Al-Rawdah are fully booked.
Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud approved the 1446H (2025) Umrah security plan. The plan focuses on security measures, traffic management, crowd control, humanitarian services, and inter-agency coordination to ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is closely monitoring pilgrim arrivals, providing support from the moment they enter the country until their departure.
