Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has honored the top winners of the state’s annual Quran recitation competition, Bhukari Sunusi Gezawa and Fatima Abubakar Tarauni, with Hajj seats and over N2 million in cash prizes.
The awards were presented during the closing ceremony held at the School for Arabic Studies (SAS) on Tuesday.
Representing the governor, Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo highlighted the administration’s unwavering dedication to advancing Quranic education across Kano State.
Governor Yusuf expressed profound appreciation for the efforts of the organizing committee and underscored the significance of Quranic recitation in addressing critical societal challenges such as insecurity and economic hardships.
“The Quran offers timeless guidance and solutions to the issues facing our nation,” the governor noted, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening Quranic education.
In a step further to enhance Islamic education, Governor Yusuf announced plans to collaborate with a prestigious Sudanese Islamic university and the Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS).
