Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, has introduced new electronic systems for Hajj 2026 to track pilgrim movement and manage entry and exit from the camps in Mina.

Signage has also been installed at camp entrances and exits, displaying departure and return times alongside other instructions for pilgrims.

This marks the first time such systems have been used during the Hajj season to organise movement at the camp level.

60 Languages, AI, and Smart Technologies

Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al Sudais, President of Religious Affairs at the Two Holy Mosques, says the operational plan for Hajj 1447 AH reaches pilgrims in 60 languages through an advanced digital system. The plan covers services across both Al-Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah and Al-Masjid An-Nabawi in Madinah.

Al Sudais has stressed that the plan centres on digital and smart transformation, with a focus on reaching pilgrims in their own languages through interactive multilingual platforms.

He describes the use of artificial intelligence in this year’s Hajj operational plan as a qualitative leap in developing religious services, and says it aligns directly with the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Year of Artificial Intelligence.

Al Sudais has said the technologies are designed to simplify rituals, reduce crowding, and create a more peaceful experience for pilgrims, with the plan built on principles of compassion and prophetic teachings.

Saudi Arabia has been expanding AI use across the Hajj season in recent years, but officials say the 1447 AH plan represents the most comprehensive deployment of these tools to date.
