Sheikh Bandar Baleelah has been chosen to deliver the Eid Al Adha sermon at Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) in Makkah for the year 1447 AH / 2026.

Born in Makkah in 1975, Sheikh Bandar Bin Abdulaziz Baleelah is an Imam and Khateeb at Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque), a member of the Council of Senior Scholars, and an assistant professor at Taif University.

He has also served as an associate professor of Shariah law at the College of Shariah and Regulations in Taif University since 2009, and holds a Ph.D. from the Islamic University of Madinah with first-class honours.

He was first appointed as a permanent Imam of Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) in October 2013, before a Royal Order in 2020 elevated him to the role of Khateeb. That same year, a further royal decree added him to the Council of Senior Scholars.

This is not Sheikh Baleelah’s first appointment to a major Hajj sermon. During the Hajj 2021 season, King Salman bin Abdulaziz approved his appointment to deliver the Arafah sermon — one of the most significant religious addresses in the Islamic calendar.

His selection as Eid Al Adha Khateeb for Hajj 2026 continues that pattern of trust placed in him for the most important occasions at the Grand Mosque.

Eid Al Adha 2026 in Saudi Arabia is expected to fall on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, corresponding to 10 Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH, according to the Umm al-Qura calendar.

The Eid prayer and sermon at Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) draw millions of worshippers in Makkah, and are broadcast live to audiences across the world.
