Saudi Arabia has extended the deadline for landlords to register buildings in Mecca designated to accommodate pilgrims during Hajj 2025, now accepting applications until March 24, 2025 (24th Ramadan 1446 AH).
The decision, approved by Mecca’s Deputy Governor Prince Saud bin Meshal, aims to streamline preparations for the annual pilgrimage, expected to begin in June 2025.
Originally set to conclude on January 30, 2025 (end of Rajab 1446 AH), the registration window was expanded to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Landlords must submit applications through accredited engineering consultancy offices, which will inspect properties to verify adherence to fire safety, structural integrity, and capacity guidelines.
Permits will be issued only after thorough evaluations.
Authorities urged property owners to act swiftly to avoid processing delays, emphasizing the need to meet deadlines for permit approvals by the end of Shaaban 1446 AH.
The Mecca Municipality and Civil Defense have tasked engineering firms with conducting inspections and issuing compliance certificates, a critical step for finalizing permits.
Hajj, one of Islam’s Five Pillars, draws millions of Muslims annually. In 2024, over 1.8 million pilgrims, including 1.6 million from abroad, participated in the rites.
