Update to Hajj regulations, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has announced that children will not be permitted to accompany pilgrims during the Hajj 1446 AH (2025) season.
The decision was taken to ensure the safety of young ones, to manage the massive crowds and logistical challenges associated with the annual pilgrimage.
The Ministry emphasized that the ban on children is a precautionary measure to protect them from the risks posed by extreme congestion, intense heat, and the physically demanding nature of Hajj rituals.
Priority for First-Time Pilgrims
In another key move, the Ministry has prioritized first-time pilgrims over those who have previously performed Hajj. This policy aims to:
- Provide opportunities for more Muslims to fulfill their religious duty.
- Limit repeat pilgrimages to alleviate pressure on sacred sites.
- Improve crowd control and overall organization during the pilgrimage.
To further streamline Hajj operations and ensure a smooth experience, the Ministry has introduced several new initiatives such as, advanced technology to monitor and regulate pilgrim movement across holy sites, ensuring efficient crowd management and improved camps, pathways, and facilities to enhance comfort and facilitate the performance of rituals.
Pilgrims are encouraged to stay updated on guidelines via the official The Islamic Information platform and adhere to all health and safety instructions.
