100-year-old Barbanki Mosque in Uttar Pradesh, India, was demolished illegally by the local government on Tuesday.
UP Sunni Central Waqf Board and All-India Muslim Law Board alleged that the demolishing is illegal and there should be legal proceedings. At the same time, the local government quoted that they acted on court notice.
Sunni Waqf Board confirmed that they did not get any notice, neither there were any issues with the mosque or the government.
Sunni Waqf board also stopped the administration to remove the debris of demolished barbanki mosque. And also demanded a judicial inquiry.
While talking to the media, District Magistrate Adarsh Singh confirmed that the mosque was built in a residential area, which is illegal.
Sunni Waqf board of UP terms the incident as “misuse of power”.
