The prayer of the solar eclipse has been known from the name Salat-ul-Khusuf. The prayer of eclipse can be performed by following the steps stated below:

  • Make an intention to pray Salat ul Khusuf and start the prayer by saying Takbir.
  • Recite Surah Fatiha, followed by the recitation of any lengthy Surah from the Quran.
  • Bow deeply and remain in the position of bowing for an extended period.
  • Recite Surah Fatiha again, followed by a long recitation. This recitation should be shorter than the former one, though.
  • Go into the bowing position, and then proceed to prostrate twice.
  • The second rakat can be prayed in the same way. However, this time the actions can be shorter than the previous ones.

The prayer that the Holy Prophet, peace be upon him, performed during the eclipse consisted of two prostrations and four bows. By the end of the prayer, the solar eclipse was over.
