Dua For New Clothes
Dua is an Arabic word, which means prayer, supplication, or supplication. In Islam itself, dua has the meaning of an act of calling on Allah SWT or a conversation with the Creator of the whole world. So it is very important for every Muslim to pray in every activity, including reciting prayers while wearing new clothes.
Abu Saeed Al-Khudri (RA) narrated that when our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) was about to wear new clothes, he would recite the following dua, complete with mentioning the name of the new clothing item, for example mentioning a Turban, shirt, or robe.
While reciting this dua, Rasulullah shallallahu’ alaihi wa sallam would mention the name of the item of clothing, for example, “You are the one who clothed me with this shirt” etc.
In addition, as Muslims, we are strongly encouraged to say “Bismillah” while removing clothes because with this Satan will not see our private parts” [Hisnul Hasin]
Hazrat Umar (RA) stated that Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) once said that if a person recites a dua while wearing new clothes and gives old clothes for charity, then Allah will protect him both in this life and in the Hereafter and he will also be under the protection of Allah (SWT) (i.e., he will be protected from all calamities and his sins will be hidden) [Miskat]
