NAIROBI — Popular Kenyan media personality Wilson Muirania Gathoni, widely known as Jaymo Ule Msee, has reverted to Islam in a ceremony at Jamia Masjid, adopting the name Hakeem Amir Malik.

The conversion announcement, shared across his social media platforms, described the decision as a “deeply personal spiritual rebirth.”

In an emotional post, Jaymo wrote: “Today I begin again. A healed heart, a renewed soul, and a life surrendered to Allah. From this moment forward, my steps are guided by faith, service, and purpose.”

With fellow commentator Gigs Yule Moja confirming he witnessed the ceremony and welcomed Jaymo into the Islamic community.

The media personality rose to prominence through comedy skits and social commentary, later serving as spokesperson for George Wajackoyah’s Roots Party during Kenya’s 2022 elections.
