The Kingdom has presented the 2025 Kiswah—the sacred covering. Crafted at the King Abdulaziz Complex for the Kaaba Kiswah, this year’s edition exemplifies the pinnacle of Islamic textile art and spiritual devotion.

Production began in July 2024, when designers, calligraphers, and textile experts convened to lay out the year’s Quranic verses and decorative motifs. Over the course of 11 months, artisans wove together seven premium fabrics into 47 individual panels, each bearing portions of the Kiswah’s famed embroidered belt.

Every stage—cutting, weaving, embroidery, and final assembly—underwent rigorous inspection to ensure flawless execution and adherence to sacred standards.

The Kiswah’s outer layer is composed of black embroidered silk, chosen for its lustrous depth and durability. Supporting layers include green silk lining, symbolizing harmony; white sukari and plain cotton, providing structural reinforcement; and red plain silk, adding warmth to the interior folds.

Craftsmen used gold-covered silver thread, weighing hundreds of kilograms, to sew 68 passages from the Qur’an onto silk fabric. These passages included statements of belief and the names of Allah.

On the 2025 Kiswah are its inscriptions, which celebrate the Kaaba’s multiple honorifics and spiritual attributes. The embroidered verses include:

  • Selections of Quranic passages that emphasize mercy, unity, and devotion.
  • Statements of faith, such as “Lā ilāha illallāh Muḥammadun Rasūlullāh.”
  • Names of God, including “Al-Rahmān” and “Al-Raḥīm.”
