With millions of pilgrims attending Hajj each year, the Saudi authorities have implemented strict identification protocols to ensure safety, organization, and efficient service delivery.
The Nusuk Hajj ID card is a critical part of that system, serving as each pilgrim’s official proof of registration and access throughout the sacred journey.
Given the vast crowds and movement between holy sites, it’s not uncommon for some pilgrims to misplace their cards. To help manage such incidents smoothly, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has outlined what to do if your Nusuk card is lost during Hajj.
Step-by-Step Guide: What to Do If You Lose Your Nusuk Card
1. Notify Your Group Leader Immediately
Inform your Hajj campaign leader or group organizer right away—they can assist with the next steps.
2. Use the Digital Version via the Nusuk App
Access the digital version of your card in the Nusuk app on your smartphone, which remains valid for most checkpoints and services.
3. Report the Loss to a Nearby Security Officer
Locate and inform the nearest security official, who can help verify your identity and direct you to official assistance.
4. Call the Ministry Helpline (1966)
Contact the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah via their official support line by dialing 1966 for guidance and urgent help.
5. Visit a Nusuk Care Centre or Guests of God Care Centre
Go to the nearest support center, especially those around the Grand Mosque in Makkah, to request further help or obtain a replacement.
Why the Nusuk Card Is Important
The Nusuk card isn’t just a formality—it’s a vital tool for identity verification, movement control, and medical support. It includes your assigned locations in Makkah, Madinah, Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah, along with emergency contacts and your Hajj service provider’s details.
In emergencies, the card can also assist healthcare providers with your medical history.
Carrying the Nusuk card—physical or digital—is mandatory at all times during the Hajj season. It also helps authorities distinguish registered pilgrims from unauthorized individuals.
Losing your Nusuk card can be unsettling, but by acting swiftly and following the official protocol, you can continue your pilgrimage without major disruption.
Pilgrims are encouraged to safeguard both their physical and digital cards and familiarize themselves with the recovery process in advance.
