The Hajj season 1446/2025 officially began today as the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah, along with sacred sites across Saudi Arabia, finalized preparations to welcome pilgrims from over 180 nations.
Saudi authorities announced comprehensive arrangements to ensure a safe, comfortable, and spiritually fulfilling journey for the anticipated 3 million Hujjaj.
Expansion projects at Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al-Nabawi have increased capacity by 25%, easing crowd movement during peak rituals.
Temporary shelters in Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah have been upgraded with climate-controlled tents equipped with fire-resistant materials and GPS tracking. Saudi’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reported that 10,000 security personnel, 500 medical teams, and 2,000 ambulances are on standby, supported by AI-driven crowd monitoring systems to prevent accidents.
Environmental initiatives include 100% waste recycling at holy sites and the deployment of solar-powered facilities to reduce carbon footprints. “Every effort has been made to honor the trust of pilgrims,” said Dr. Tawfiq al-Rabiah, Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah. “This year’s Hajj reflects our commitment to preserving tradition while embracing innovation.”
The pilgrimage, a mandatory duty for Muslims at least once in their lifetime, will climax with the Day of Arafah on October 6. Authorities urge pilgrims to register via the “Nusuk” app for real-time updates on logistics and health protocols.
As the first waves of pilgrims arrived in Makkah today, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its role as a guardian of Islamic heritage, blending tradition with modernity to uphold the sanctity of the Hajj.
