Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs has issued guidelines for mosques, introducing strict measures against begging and emphasizing security protocols to ensure a spiritually conducive environment for worshipers.
The directive, released earlier this week, explicitly prohibits begging both inside and around mosque premises.
Mosque employees have been instructed to alert security personnel immediately if they encounter individuals soliciting donations. Instead, worshipers are encouraged to make formal zakat and charity contributions through authorized channels.
- Pakistanis: Frequently arrested for using Umrah visas to beg in Saudi Arabia.
- Indians: Arrested for begging at the Grand Mosque.
- Moroccans: Also arrested for begging near the Grand Mosque.
- Yemenis: Caught using deceptive methods to beg.
Additionally, all mosque staff are required to maintain regular attendance throughout Ramadan, with absences permitted only in case of emergencies.
The statement further noted that the Kingdom expects an intensification of field visits by mosque inspectors. These visits will be crucial to follow up on the implementation of all instructions issued to mosque employees and ensure that the guidelines are rigorously adhered to.
