Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s celebrated javelin thrower, has been widely acclaimed for winning the Olympic gold medal, marking the country’s first gold in 40 years.
The athlete recently received an additional reward of Rs500,000 ($1,700) from renowned religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil.
Since his historic win at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Nadeem has been given tons of admiration and accolades. His achievement, which saw him set a new Olympic record with a throw of 92.97 meters, has inspired pride and celebration across the nation.
Nadeem was honored with the monetary prize during a meeting with Maulana Jamil at a Tableeghi Markaz in his hometown, Mian Channu. The occasion was highlighted by photos shared on the cleric’s official Instagram account.
In addition to this recognition, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz awarded Nadeem with a cheque for Rs100 million and a car featuring the special number plate “PAK 92.97.”
The javelin thrower’s success has not only brought glory to Pakistan but also ended a long-standing drought of gold medals in the Olympics for the country.
