An incident took place at the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) today on April 9, 2024, when a person threw himself from the upper floor of the mosque.
The security forces did not reveal the ethnicity and nationality of that person.
Surprisingly, the person survived, however, sustained some serious injuries. The security forces took the person to the hospital where he is under observation.
The specialized team that is tasked with ensuring the safety of the pilgrims responded promptly, preventing others from getting harmed and the individual.
The reason for throwing himself from the upper floor is not yet clear. The teams are investigating if this was an attempted suicide.
