According to Garden Police Chief Moharir Hanif Siyal, the incident occurred in the Muhammadi Masjid near Fawara Chowk.

According to the police, Gulistan, the prayer crier, had gone to the mosque to recite the ‘azaan’ (call to prayer) for afternoon prayers.

Gulistan hung himself after completing the azaan by tying a rope to the ceiling fan.

A body was hanging in the mosque when people came into the mosque for prayer. The sight was grotesque and apocalyptic.

Police officers from the garden police force were called to the mosque. They supervised the lowering of the body and its transportation to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal procedures.
