The Holy Kaaba will get its new Kiswah on Friday, June 26-27, 2025, coinciding with 1st Muharram 1447 AH.
Each year the silk cloth that covers the Kaaba is replaced in a process that is meticulously planned, from start to finish.
This ritual requires many people, including expert craftsmen and technicians, to ensure every detail is addressed and completed in the correct manner.
Kiswah is a piece of black silk that covers the Kaaba in Makkah and it is prepared by a team of dedicated seamsters and is a many month long process.
Though the changing of the Kiswah was once linked to the Day of Arafat during Hajj, Saudi authorities updated the timing in recent years to take place at the beginning of the Hijri calendar.
The ceremony is widely broadcast all around the world through Makkah Live channel.
Its design and production are overseen by the King Abdulaziz Complex for Kiswah Manufacturing, where generations of artisans have mastered this sacred craft.
