Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Haj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, has invited Indian Islamic preacher Dr. Zakir Naik and his family to perform the Haj pilgrimage this year, starting on Friday, June 14.
The news was shared on Dr. Zakir Naik’s official X account on Tuesday, June 11, after he landed at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah.
“Dr. Zakir Naik landed in Jeddah early this morning. Alhamdulillah, three officials were there to greet him right at the gate of the plane,” the X post reads.
“Maa Shaa Allah, upon entering the VIP lounge, he completed immigration and exited the airport in less than a minute. Dr. Zakir Naik has never experienced such quick and efficient service in his life, especially during Hajj.”
While in India Zakir Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation was banned on November 17, 2016, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967. In November 2021, they extended the ban for another five years.
In 2017, Indian authorities issued an arrest warrant against him, charging him with money laundering, incitement to terrorism, and spreading sectarianism through satellite channels and religious lectures.
