The Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques have recently emphasized that sleeping in the Grand Mosque (Masjid al Haram) and the Prophet’s Mosque (Masjid an Nabawi), including their surrounding courtyards, is not permitted.
Officials explained that allowing sleeping on the premises can disrupt the atmosphere of worship and compromise both the comfort and safety of those visiting the mosques.
Maintaining strict guidelines helps ensure that the holy environment remains undisturbed and that proper facilities are available for all.
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has been proactive in implementing various regulations to enhance the pilgrimage experience. These include strict guidelines against smoking, begging, and selling within the mosque premises, as well as restrictions on carrying personal items that could obstruct pathways or create congestion.
In recent years, similar concerns have been raised about worshipers sleeping in the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, with some calling for more stringent management of the situation to ensure that all visitors can worship comfortably.
