The incident, captured at a gas station, shows a man exiting a white vehicle and running towards the couple while wielding a chainsaw.
A post on X (formerly known as Twitter) claimed the event occurred on August 5, 2024, at a Shell gas station in Manchester, labeling it an “Islamophobic” attack.

Recent riots have erupted following the Southport stabbing, which resulted in the deaths of three girls. This has incited widespread unrest across the United Kingdom, with slogans such as “Save our kids” and “We want our country back,” as reported by Al Jazeera.
These events have led to numerous attacks on Muslims and immigrants, fueled by misinformation that the suspect, 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana, was a Muslim immigrant. This claim was later debunked; Rudakubana, born to Rwandan parents in Cardiff, Wales, was confirmed not to be Muslim.

The ongoing violence in the United Kingdom is concerning to people from the subcontinent, as many of their relatives live in the UK. It is difficult to understand what has caused such widespread law and order issues in a country like the UK, where law enforcement agencies are well-equipped and known for their patience in handling challenging situations. It is speculated that the violence in the UK could be a political tactic to destabilise the newly elected government. The UK’s economy has declined, leading to increased unemployment and frustration among young people. It is also believed that those responsible for the violence may be pressuring the government to introduce new legislation to identify and deport illegal immigrants living there.
Unemployment and frustration among young people worldwide are attributed to technological advancements, which have limited job opportunities for humans in various fields. In such a scenario, it is likely that this type of violence, under different pretexts, will continue to occur intermittently, causing unrest. A similar situation is also happening in Bangladesh, where Muslims have targeted minorities during political violence. The only difference is in the timing, location, and dates of the occurrences, while the methods of the crimes are similar. In Bangladesh, the police have failed to protect the minority population.
In contrast, the UK police have efficiently handled the challenging situation to protect lives and property. They deserve commendation. The minorities in the UK should cooperate and support the police in controlling the problem with a gesture of goodwill and forgiveness to the offenders, as fire cannot be extinguished by adding more fire.
