KARACHI – Maulana Tariq Jamil’s son tragically passed away Sunday night after he shot himself from his own guard’s pistol while exercising at his gym on his farmhouse. CCTV footage confirmed the death as suicide.
Maulana Tariq Jamil, a renowned Islamic scholar announced the death of his son on Twitter. Asim Jamil was killed by a gunshot wound at his farmhouse.
Reports indicate that this was a suicide case as Asim Jamil shot himself with his own guard’s pistol while exercising in his gym at his farmhouse. The case of suicide was further confirmed by Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry, Multan Regional Police Officer Capt (retd) through CCTV footage.
After the incident, Asim Jamil was immediately rushed to the Tulamba Hospital nearby where he was declared dead by Dr Asif Imam. It was further informed that Asim was suffering from severe depression and was under mental health treatment.

Asim Jamil had gone through extreme personal challenges in recent years when he divorced his wife from a Niazi family 2 years ago. Unlike his brother and father, Asim had not received any formal religious education or completed his matriculation.
Further investigations with a complete report were demanded by Dr Usman Anwar, Punjab Inspector General of Police from the Multan RPO. He underlined the importance of determining the exact cause of death along with evidence and reports.
The sad incident has left the nation in shock and mourning. National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf extended his condolences to the family and prayed for the departed soul.
He further prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to Maulana Tariq Jamil and his family during this time. Moreover, Caretaker Federal Minister for Information Murtaza Solangi also expressed his prayers and sorrows highlighting the pain of losing a young son can only be known to a father.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif shared their condolences with the grieving family as well.
The grieving father, Maulana Tariq Jamil took to social media to share the news of his son and requested his audience to pray for the departed soul.
