RIYADH – Saudi’s GAMR (General Authority of Media Regulations) has summoned a young Saudi woman for sharing posts that insult Prophet Muhammad PBUH and his wife Khadija RA.
The unnamed social activist, 20, has been referred to Public Prosecution for taking the legal matter further. She will face a three million Saudi riyal fine as well as five years of jail time.
Saudi prosecutors had already warned that anyone who shared abusive posts on social media insulting the Prophet Muhammad PBUH will have to pay a fine of 3 million riyals which is equal to USD 800,000 and should face five years of prison.
The social activist shared a number of tweets on X (previously known as Twitter) in which she spoke in an offensive and vulgar manner about Prophet Muhammad PBUH and his wife Khadija RA.
