Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism has rolled out a digital service allowing licensed hospitality operators in the holy cities of Makkah and Medina to apply for expanded bed capacity ahead of the Hajj 2026 (1447 AH) season.
The online feature, accessible through the Tourism Activities Licensing Portal, streamlines the approval process for room and bed increases in accordance with ministry guidelines.
The ministry said the initiative underscores its commitment to modernizing procedures and boosting operational readiness in the hospitality sector.
“By integrating this e-service, we are improving efficiency and ensuring accommodation providers can meet peak demand while maintaining high standards for pilgrims,” a ministry spokesperson stated.
This launch forms part of early preparations for Hajj 1447 and supports the broader digital transformation strategy within Saudi Arabia’s tourism and pilgrimage services.
Hospitality operators must submit their applications, along with required documentation, through the ministry’s website. Approved requests will enable additional beds to be added temporarily during the Hajj period.
With digital tools at its core, the ministry aims to offer seamless electronic solutions that guarantee pilgrim comfort and convenience. Enhanced bed capacity, combined with existing quality controls, will help ensure worshipers can focus on their spiritual journey without service disruptions.
The e-service is now live, and licensed operators in Makkah and Medina are encouraged to log in to the Tourism Activities Licensing Portal to submit their expansion requests ahead of the Hajj season.
