The General Directorate of Passports allowed holders of all types of visit visas—even those that have expired—to secure a 30-day extension for the sole purpose of departing the Kingdom.

The scheme takes effect on 1 Muharram 1447 AH (June 27, 2025) and will run for a specified period.

Under the initiative, beneficiaries must settle any outstanding visa fees and prescribed fines.

Extensions can be requested directly through the Tawasul service on the Ministry of Interior’s Absher electronic platform, simplifying the process and reducing the need for in-person visits to passport offices.

A spokesperson for the General Directorate of Passports emphasized that the initiative is designed exclusively for visitors who need additional time to arrange their final departure from Saudi Arabia.

“We urge all eligible residents and visitors to take advantage of this opportunity within the allotted window,” the statement read.
