MECCA, SAUDI ARABIA – The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques has released new guidelines requiring Umrah pilgrims to use officially authorized transportation services during their pilgrimage. The move aims to ensure the safety and security of millions of visitors traveling to the holy sites.
The guidelines emphasize the use of approved public buses and formal taxi services, which must display clear driver information and company badges. Compliance with these rules not only guarantees safer travel but also helps pilgrims avoid legal issues.
To enhance convenience, the authority is promoting smart mobile applications for booking rides, allowing pilgrims to review driver ratings and verify service quality. Electronic payment methods are strongly recommended over cash transactions to further reduce security risks.
“Pilgrims using licensed transport and digital solutions will enjoy safer journeys, allowing them to focus on their spiritual practices,” officials stated.
With Ramadan approaching, Saudi authorities are intensifying preparations to accommodate the expected surge in Umrah pilgrims.
