The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has confirmed the sighting of the Rabi’ al-Awwal crescent today, Saturday, officially declaring Sunday, August 24, 2025, as the first day of the Islamic month.
The twelfth day of Rabi’ al-Awwal will fall on Thursday, September 4, 2025.
The announcement, made by the Kingdom’s Moon Sighting Committee, follows the traditional Hijri calendar based on lunar observations.
Rabi’ al-Awwal holds deep spiritual significance as the month in which the Prophet (PBUH) was born, but the birth date is disputed.
In many Muslim countries and communities, the 12th day is marked by religious gatherings, prayers, charitable acts, and cultural events that celebrate his life and teachings.
The Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs confirmed that special programs and lectures will be organized in mosques throughout the Kingdom, focusing on the Prophet’s legacy of mercy, tolerance, and moral guidance.
