A tragic aviation disaster occurred early on 12 June 2025 when Air India Flight AI 171, en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after departure.

Officials are coordinating with affected families and Islamic community leaders to manage bereavement support and funeral arrangements. Air India, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, and the Indian government have opened helplines and counseling services for relatives.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the incident and urged full cooperation with investigative authorities. Meanwhile, UK officials have deployed experts to assist with technical analysis and surviving passenger support.

The crash has halted similar Boeing 787 flights from Ahmedabad as safety officials conduct rigorous inspections. Aviation experts are also reviewing operational protocols, including flap performance, pilot training standards, and early-warning systems.
This event represents the first fatal incident involving a Boeing 787 since its introduction in 2011 and one of India’s most significant air disasters in recent times.
As teams continue search-and-recovery operations at the site, the broader aviation community awaits detailed findings, seeking answers for grieving families and implementing safeguards to prevent future tragedies.
