As the Hajj 2025 (1446 AH) season approaches, Saudi health authorities have reiterated that the meningococcal and seasonal influenza vaccines are mandatory for all incoming pilgrims.
Pilgrims are required to receive both vaccines at least 10 days before their flight to the Kingdom.
Health experts, however, strongly recommend getting vaccinated 15 days in advance to allow the body sufficient time to build immunity and to avoid any last-minute travel disruptions due to incomplete health documentation.
For elderly pilgrims, especially those aged 65 and above, the pneumococcal vaccine is highly advised to prevent serious respiratory infections during the strenuous days of Hajj.
Additionally, two doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine are required. Those who have already been vaccinated should carry a valid vaccination certificate as proof.
Travelers are urged to consult their local health authorities or Hajj travel agencies to ensure they meet all medical requirements.
Official vaccination certificates may be requested upon arrival in Saudi Arabia and at various checkpoints during the pilgrimage.
