The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has confirmed that the meningitis vaccine is compulsory for anyone planning to perform Hajj 1446 AH-2025, whether they are citizens or visitors from abroad. In a recent post on X, the ministry stated that Hajj packages will not be accessible unless the vaccination requirement is fulfilled.
The ministry emphasized that this measure is essential to allow pilgrims to perform their rituals safely and maintain the health of the guests of God. In addition to the meningitis vaccine, it is recommended that pilgrims also receive the influenza and COVID-19 vaccines to further safeguard against illnesses during the pilgrimage season.
Pilgrims are advised to book their vaccination appointments via the “Sehhaty” app. Hajj 2025 is expected to take place from June 4 to June 9, although final dates will be confirmed by Saudi Arabia’s moon sighting committee closer to the event.
Last year, more than 1.83 million pilgrims performed Hajj in 1445 AH-2024, including over 1.6 million international visitors from 22 countries. Hajj remains a compulsory religious duty for Muslims who are physically and financially able to undertake it at least once in their lifetime.
