Saudi Arabia Sets Medicine Guidelines for Hajj Pilgrims

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia has rolled out crucial guidelines regarding the handling and usage of medicines for pilgrims gearing up for the Hajj.

These regulations are aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of all pilgrims by promoting responsible medication practices before and during the pilgrimage.

Before Departure:

  1. Remember your medical prescription: Pilgrims are required to carry their medical prescriptions along to ensure they have the necessary documentation for their medications.
  2. For chronic conditions, pack sufficient medication doses along with the approved prescription (stamped): Individuals with chronic conditions should bring ample medication to cover the entire journey, accompanied by a prescription stamped and approved by a medical professional.

Upon Arrival:

  1. Avoid mixing medications with others: Pilgrims should keep their medications separate from others to prevent mix-ups or contamination.
  2. Store your medications safely in a dedicated medicine box: Medications should be kept in a designated medicine box to ensure safe storage and easy access when needed.
  3. If additional medication is needed, provide the pharmacist with the stamped and approved prescription: Should a pilgrim require additional medication while in Saudi Arabia, they must furnish the pharmacist with their stamped and approved prescription.

These guidelines are part of Saudi Arabia’s broader initiatives to prioritize the well-being of Hajj pilgrims by facilitating access to essential medical care and proper medication management.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah underscores the importance of adhering to these guidelines to mitigate health risks and ensure a secure pilgrimage experience.
