Masjid al-Haram Launches Sermon and Recitation Robot

Sermon and Quran Recitation robots will soon serve the faithful in the Grand Mosque.

Masjid al-Haram, located in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, continues to innovate with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to provide maximum convenience and service for pilgrims who want to worship at Islam’s holiest site.

Recently, the General Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques, which manages Masjid al-Haram, has launched a smart robot that can recite the Holy Quran and sermons to serve local and foreign worshipers.

As reported by Gulf News, users can scan the barcode display on the robot’s screen to download the service on their personal smartphones. Or users can directly press commands on the robot screen to access various information related to the worships, such as information on prayer imams, muezzins, and weekly schedules, including the names of clerics who deliver weekly Friday sermons.

When launching the advanced machines, Head of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al Sudais said that the launch was part of a large-scale strategy aimed not only at launching more smart robots in the Two Holy Mosques but also to implement the Smart Haram project. The Smart Haram project is one of the projects that will run according to the Kingdom’s ambitious development scheme, Saudi Vision 2030.

Previously, the Saudi Arabian government had introduced several AI innovations, especially in Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi, to provide the best experience for pilgrims while visiting the Two Holy Mosques.

Some of the sophisticated robots launched at Masjid al-Haram, and Masjid an-Nabawi includes sterilization and cleaning robots on the roof of the Holy Kaaba, robots in charge of distributing Zam-Zam water throughout the Holy Mosque without touching them, to multilingual robots that can provide worship guidance to worshippers.
