The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance has introduced interactive robots to support visitors at the 45th King Abdulaziz International Quran Memorization, Recitation and Interpretation Competition held in Makkah.
The units are stationed in the competition halls to offer practical, on-the-spot assistance for attendees from around the world.
Each robot features a touch screen and a user interface that delivers key information about the competition, including daily schedules, the locations of sessions and halls, and procedures for participants.
The devices answer queries in 96 international languages, making them a resource for the competition’s diverse international audience and reducing the need for visitors to search for staff or printed materials.
Organizers say the robots are intended to speed up routine requests and improve the visitor experience by providing clear directions and event details quickly. The deployment also frees staff to focus on specialized support and logistical tasks that require human attention.
The introduction of robotics is part of broader efforts by the Ministry to modernize services offered during major religious and cultural events.
Officials highlight that combining digital tools with on-the-ground teams helps ensure visitors receive timely information while maintaining efficient operations throughout the competition.
Visitors can approach the robots for immediate information or use touch controls to access maps and schedule updates.
Event organizers will monitor usage and collect feedback to refine the service during the competition and in future events.
