Indonesia will not send pilgrims for Hajj 2021, Cancels Hajj

Indonesia has officially cancelled hajj 2021 as they refused to send pilgrims for this year’s hajj due to coronavirus fears.

Indonesia is a Muslim majority country. The average wait time for Hajj pilgrimage in Indonesia is 20 years due to their quota system.

Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas confirms in an official statement that due to coronavirus, the safety of pilgrims is the priority. That’s why the Government decided to cancel this year’s hajj by not sending Indonesian pilgrims.

Although Saudi Arabia has allowed 60,000 pilgrims for Hajj 2021 from all around the world.

Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas also said that Indonesia never got any quota. He also added that the pilgrims who paid the fees for the 2021 Hajj would be carried forward to Hajj 2022.

Saudi Arabia has also been lifting the ban before hajj 2021 to welcome pilgrims all around the world.
