A deadly fire at Gul Plaza on Karachi’s MA Jinnah Road has left the city in mourning, with at least 29 people confirmed dead and dozens still missing.
Amid the tragedy, rescue officials reported an extraordinary discovery within the charred building: copies of the Holy Quran inside the shopping center’s mosque were found completely untouched by the flames.
After bringing the fire under control, rescue teams entered the smoke-filled mosque to search for potential victims.
Video footage from a rescuer shows personnel carefully retrieving the Quranic books, which remained unharmed despite the building completely burnt.
Officials confirmed the mosque itself suffered no structural damage from the blaze.
The rescuer who recorded the video stated it was taken around 11 PM Monday night to dispel rumors of people trapped inside the mosque.
He confirmed no individuals were found inside, noting that the structure had become extremely hot and unstable. Rescue personnel moved cautiously due to fears the weakened floor could collapse.

Authorities have identified over 20 of the deceased, while search and rescue operations continue for the missing amid concerns of further casualties.
The incident has also caused extensive financial losses. Officials have urged citizens to remain calm, assuring that all efforts are being made in the ongoing operation.
