As the holy month of Ramadan begins, UAE-based airlines Etihad Airways and Emirates have rolled out services to accommodate fasting passengers.

Etihad has curated special Ramadan menus across all cabin classes.

In first class and The Residence, passengers can enjoy Emirati-inspired dishes such as traditional lamb shank kabsa, followed by pistachio and chocolate kunafa cake.
Business class travelers will be served chicken mandi, with desserts including cardamom and date pudding, pistachio caramel cake, and rose and pomegranate mousse cake.
Economy class passengers will find options like Arabic braised lamb or chicken on vermicelli rice.

For passengers observing the fast whose flight times fall outside iftar and suhoor, Etihad offers takeaway bags available before boarding or after disembarkation.

The airline’s first and business class lounges at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport and London Heathrow feature Ramadan-inspired dishes and iftar platters, including Arabic-spiced grilled lobster and rose and pistachio mahalabia.

Onboard entertainment has been updated with Ramadan-themed content, including cooking shows and cultural programming on the E-Box system.

Emirates

Emirates is distributing iftar snack boxes at select gates and onboard for passengers breaking their fast during flights. The boxes contain dates, sandwiches, nuts, and baklava, offered in addition to the regular meal service.

To ensure accuracy in breaking the fast, the captain makes an official announcement at iftar time. Prayer mats are also made available to passengers upon request.

The airline’s Ice entertainment system features extensive religious programming throughout Ramadan.

Arabic content includes programs such as Kheir Qodwa, Qalb Al Mo’men, and Wa Yatoub Allah Alaykom. Urdu offerings feature Ramadan Mah e Rehmat and Hoshyarian. Passengers can also read the Quran directly on the Ice system.
