To maintain the highest standards of hygiene and ensure a pristine environment for millions of visitors, the authorities at Masjid al-Haram have implemented an innovative cleaning process that refreshes the entire mosque and its courtyards in just 35 minutes every day.
This swift turnaround is made possible by 24 specialized cleaning teams working around the clock, supported by a workforce of 3,500 dedicated staff members.
The cleaning operation utilizes state-of-the-art technology, including 12 specialized washing machines and 67 advanced cleaning machines, to efficiently sanitize all areas without disrupting the flow of worshipers.
Additionally, the waste management system is comprehensive, with over 3,000 strategically placed waste bins both inside and outside the mosque. On average, 70 tons of waste are collected daily, with the figure increasing to 100 tons during the busiest periods.
This impressive feat highlights the commitment of the mosque’s management to provide a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pilgrims and visitors alike.
The modern cleaning and waste management systems ensure that every visitor can experience Masjid al-Haram in its best possible condition, reinforcing its status as one of the holiest sites in Islam.
