Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has announced that Thursday, July 11, will be an official paid holiday in observance of the Islamic New Year.

According to the statement, this holiday substitutes for the Gregorian date corresponding to the first day of Muharram 1446 AH, as determined by astronomical calculations.

The holiday will apply to employees in ministries, government departments, public bodies, local administration units, and companies in the public, public business, and private sectors.
