The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has implemented a health measure for the safety of the visitors to the holy site.
This project involves the collection and analysis of 80 samples from various locations within Masjid al-Haram.
The samples include the following:
- 50 samples of Zamzam water
- 20 samples of dates and foodstuffs
- 10 surface samples
- Continuous air quality monitoring
These are tested rigorously at the Epidemiology Laboratory at the Grand Mosque.
Samples are collected from the carpets, Mashrabiya Windows, Quran storage areas, escalators, doors, and plastic barriers. Water samples are also collected from the Zamzam water source, filling stations, cooling stations, and tanks.
Visitors are encouraged to use designated cups for drinking Zamzam and properly recycling them. And have urged the visitors to try to maintain hygiene by throwing trash into the designated area.
