Israeli far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has sparked yet another controversy after proposing to ban Palestinians from visiting the Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan 2024.

He further added that any Palestinian who is below 70 should not be allowed in Al-Aqsa Mosque, citing security reasons.

Despite the extremist politician’s stance, Israeli police have opposed the ban and suggested keeping under 45 years of Palestinians to be restricted from entering the Al-Aqsa mosque.

The Biden administration also conveyed its concerns after the potential ban on mosque entrance.

The US apprehends that such restrictions will further ignite the tensions in the region. Moreover, the visit of Argentinian far-right president Javier Milei to Israel has also raised concerns about further tensions in the region.
