Morroco Become The First Ever Muslim African Country To Make It To The Semi-Finals

The national team of the Islamic country, Morocco, managed to overthrow Portugal in the quarter-finals of the World Cup with a score of 1-0. This victory makes Morocco stroll into the semi-finals.

Morocco’s success in defeating Portugal is a new history in the world of football, especially in the World Cup. Morocco is the first African country, as well as the first Arab and Muslim country, to reach the semi-finals of the FIFA Football World Cup.

Morocco’s match against Portugal was held at Al Thumama Stadium, Doha, on Saturday, 10 December. Since the first minute, the two teams traded attacks.

From the start, Portugal has torn apart the Moroccan defense. However, a header from Joao Felix was still held up by Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.

The Atlas Lions then responded to the opposing team’s attack. At the end of the first half, Yahia Attiyat Allah gave a cross into the penalty box. Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa tried to retrieve the ball, but En-Nesyri won the duel in the air. His header in the 42nd minute made Morocco win 1-0 until the end of the first half.

In the second half, Fernando Santos fielded Christiano Ronaldo in hopes of bringing about change for Os Navegadores. However, until the referee blew the long whistle, there were no additional goals.

The match was won by Morocco. All the players, officials, the supporters who watched live at the stadium expressed joy over Morocco’s victory.

African and Arab Muslim countries also celebrated Morocco’s victory. President Chad Mahamat Idriss Deby said his country is ready to support Morocco in the 2022 World Cup.

Furthermore, the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifah also congratulated the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, on the extraordinary international historic achievement.

Prince of Dubai Mohammed bin Rashed also congratulated the Moroccan national team.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid al-Dbeibah, and Jordanian Crown Prince Hussein congratulated the Moroccan national team.

Morocco broke predictions by successfully qualifying for the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup. What’s even more impressive, the Atlas Lions team is a team that has not even scored a goal against an opponent.

Qualified for the semi-finals, Morocco will face France. The match will occur at Al Bayt Stadium, Al Khor, Qatar, on Wednesday, 14 December.
