Who Is Ghanim Al Muftah Boy Who Recited Quran in FIFA Opening Ceremony

Several interesting things were presented at the opening ceremony of the 2022 World Cup, which took place at Al Bayt Stadium on Sunday, November 20. One of them was the opening moment of the Qatar 2022 World Cup event with the recitation of a verse from the Holy Quran.

The recitation of a verse of the Holy Quran was beautifully recited by a young Qatari named Ghanim Al-Muftah, who especially recited Surah Al-Hujurat verse 13 during dialogue with senior Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman in conveying a message of unity.

So who exactly is Ghanim Al-Muftah, the young man who recited the verses of the Holy Quran during the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2022?

Ghanim Al-Muftah, who is also the ambassador for the 2022 World Cup, is a motivator who actively shares motivational content through his YouTube channel and social media accounts.

Ghanim was born on May 5, 2002, with a rare condition known as Caudal Regression Syndrome (CDS). It was a disease that caused patients to be born without lower limbs. As a result, he needed a wheelchair for his activities.

However, instead of hampering his life, Ghanim managed to overcome his condition, making him an inspirational figure for many people.

At a young age, he made his name as Qatar’s youngest entrepreneur and successfully founded Gharissa Ice Cream, a Qatar-based company claiming to create a five-star ice cream experience. With six branches and 60 employees, its franchise has expanded overseas and throughout the Gulf region.

Despite his physical limitations, Ghanim enjoys various extreme sports activities, including swimming, scuba diving, soccer, hiking and skateboarding. Ghanim has even climbed Jabal Shams, the highest mountain peak in the Gulf region.

Ghanim is currently known to be pursuing his college degree in political science with the main goal of becoming a diplomat. He is also known to be a hafiz of the Quran.

Ghanim’s success is certainly inseparable from the role of his parents, who continue to provide positive support so that he can live a normal life beyond his means. On his page, ghanimalmuftah.org, it is said that many people asked Ghanim’s mother to have an abortion after learning about Ghanim’s condition. But his mother decided to continue her pregnancy and promised to always be there for her child.

With the help of his family, Ghanim has also succeeded in establishing the Ghanim Association, which donates wheelchairs to people in need.

Ghanim has won various prestigious awards at a very young age, including Unsung Heroes from 21st Century (2009), Ambassador for Peace by the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah (2014), Ambassador for Humanity Brand Ambassador Qatar Financial Center Authority.

He has also been appointed as an Ambassador of Goodness and Humanity by the Qatar Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) and the 2015 Paralympics Athletics World Champions Ambassador. At the 2022 World Cup, Ghanim Al-Muftah was appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador as well as a brand ambassador.

While speaking at TEDxQatarUniversity in 2018, Ghanim shared his life experiences with a rare condition. He says his limitations are not a barrier to doing many things. He also said that he wanted to spread positive things through the activities he was doing.
