Kerala (India): As a demonstration of support for the Iranian anti-hijab protesters, about 50 Muslim women set their hijabs on fire in front of the Kozhikode town hall while chanting to support them.

Indian women and a group in Kerala have come out to support Iranian protesters for the first time.

As a prelude to another seminar to be held in Malappuram next month, a seminar on “Fanos-Science and Free thinking” was held in Kozhikode on Sunday.

At 6 pm, the hijab was set on fire following the event hosted by the Islamic Free Thinkers Association at the Kozhikode Town Hall.

It has been reported that hundreds of people have been killed by Iran’s security forces to suppress protests following the death of Mahsa Amini, 22, who died while imprisoned by the morality police for wearing her hijab inappropriately.

A wave of protests followed her death in Iran, with many women taking to the streets to express their anger.

There have been protests worldwide by women, including schoolgirls, who have burned their hijabs to support the victims. Women around the globe have also cut their hair in support of the victims. As a result of her death, protests broke out across the country in countless locations.
