ABU DHABI: The parking lot of Sheikh Zayed Mosque is damaged after a glider aircraft crashed, injuring the pilot.
On a Wednesday evening, Cessna Caravan light aircraft crashed into the mosque’s parking lot. Abu Dhabi Cil Defense and Police rushed to the aircraft crash site.
The police have asked the public only to get the information from the official channels.
The main reason the plane crashed was a technical issue during the flight. The pilot was injured and was taken to the nearby hospital in Abu Dhabi for treatment.
UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) confirmed that the plane crash was due to technical malfunctioning as the plane was en route to Al Bateen Private Airport.
Fortunately, the aircraft crashed in an empty parking lot, and no other injury or damage has been reported.
General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has initiated the investigation into the crash, and the update will be made public through governmental sources.
