Saudi health authorities have issued urgent heat precautions for Hajj 2025, expected to be one of the hottest pilgrimages on record.

The Saudi Ministry of Health confirmed pilgrims must stay inside air-conditioned tents from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM daily to avoid life-threatening heatstroke.

Temperatures at Hajj sites are forecast to surpass 45°C.

Pilgrims are instructed to perform Dhuhr and Asr prayers inside tents during this critical window. Visiting high-exposure sites like Masjid Namirah or Jabal al-Rahmah is strictly prohibited until temperatures drop.

The ministry also banned walking to Muzdalifa, directing pilgrims to use designated buses or the Haramain High-Speed Train instead.

"Ignoring these rules risks lives," the ministry warned, noting shade and restricted movement are non-negotiable for survival.

These measures follow deadly heatwaves during past Hajj seasons. In 2024, over 1,500 pilgrims suffered heat-related casualties amid 46°C temperatures.

Climate experts attribute 2025’s extreme forecast to rising regional temperatures, urging vulnerable groups (elderly, chronically ill) to prioritize hydration and cooling gear.

Saudi officials are deploying 10,000 misting fans across Mina and Arafat, while medical teams will monitor pilgrims for heat exhaustion symptoms.
