Prophet Shuaib (AS)‘s story: In Midian, the people practiced lots of things prohibited by Islam, such as, robbery, collection of taxes, the practice of idolatry and cheating customers by lying about their products.
Then, Allah (s.w.t) sent down Prophet Shuaib (p.b.u.h) to guide the people back on his path. He was an excellent preacher and talked to the population about Allah (s.w.t) and doing good deeds.
However, they all mocked and considered him as a fool. In fact, they thought that Prophet Shuaib (p.b.u.h) was doing that because he wanted to be rich.
He tried his best to convince them for many years but only a few believed him. Despite the threats and prejudices, Shuaib (p.b.u.h) kept his composure and told non-believers that whatever he was doing was to convey the message of Allah (s.w.t) to them, not for personal benefits and that his earnings were pure but his explanations were denied by many.
The non-believers got so enraged at Prophet Shuaib (p.b.u.h) that they decided to rob his property as well as his followers’ and pushed them out of the town.
The disbelievers would allow them to come back only if they would accept to abide by their ruling. The followers of Prophet Shuaib (p.b.u.h) refused and, with a strong faith in Allah, reconstructed their lives elsewhere.
The disbelievers challenged the prophet and told him to ask Allah to inflict them any punishment.
Prophet Shuaib (p.b.u.h) sought help from the Lord and the latter gave them an unbearable hot weather. Then there were huge thunderstorms that shook the ground and killed everyone.
When Prophet Shuaib (p.b.u.h) and his followers went back to town, they saw the fate of the disbelievers of Allah (s.w.t) and did not feel any regret as the prophet warned them before but chose not to listen.
