The Hijab With the advent of social media websites as well as platforms to share video tutorials, it is now not uncommon that at least one hijabi has viewed at least one video tutorial on how to wear the headscarf, known commonly as the ‘hijab’ the most beautiful way or as attractive as possible.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  • A hijab is not just a headscarf but an overall dress code for Muslim women.
  • Muslim women should cover everything from top to bottom, except for the hands and face.
  • Adorning oneself with beautiful objects is permissible as long as the body is not revealed.

The ‘hijab’ is not limited to wearing just a headscarf. The hijab is the way a Muslim woman must dress, overall, according to what Allah has said is fair over women and clarified by the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h).

The common trend we see today is that Muslim women tend to wear the headscarf while showing their ears and neck which can be adorned by jewelry and consequently, the headscarf becomes a fashion accessory, not an obligatory garment, taking the meaning of ‘Hijab’ and Allah’s words for granted.

Let us remind our lovely sisters that they are beautiful the way Allah created them and to please the Lord is their obligatory duty. Allah said, for obvious reasons, to cover everything from top to bottom leaving only the hands and face uncovered.

That means that the hair, neck, and ears need to be mandatorily covered which also means that turban-style headscarves are not allowed

That does not prevent them from adding jewelry, it is permissible to adorn yourself with beautiful objects as long as your body is not revealed. However, it is not permissible to wear strong perfumes.

Sisters, remember, you have to fear Allah and follow the words of Allah and the messenger (p.b.u.h) about wearing the correct hijab, for He has obvious reasons.

These reasons range from avoiding problems in Dunya, but most importantly, to showing obedience to the Lord and eventually approaching Jannah.
